Calming Your Inner Control Freak
March 2, 2019 @ 2:15 pm - 3:45 pm
Have you ever tried to control a situation or a person (including yourself!) in an attempt to increase your own happiness or freedom, only to find that your efforts were wasted … or even made things worse? Without understanding the true roots (and ironic limitations) of control, we rarely succeed; yet, it is so common to try to find safety and comfort this way, we often don’t even realize we’re doing it. No wonder we feel frustrated and ineffective!
This session will include a 20 minute talk providing fresh context, perspective, and a couple of surprises about our “control cycles,” followed by a seated group meditation focused on finding a deep inner relief from this pervasive challenge.
This event will take place in the Skylight Studio at the Watertown Center for Healing Arts. Please use the 22 Mount Auburn St. entrance and come up the stairs, and we will be in the last door on the left just before the restrooms.
There’s plenty of parking in the lot on Spring St., as well as street parking on Mount Auburn St. and a small lot on a short side street on the first right after the WCHA entrance (when heading toward Watertown Square). Feel free to bring your own cushion, use one of the ones already provided, or use a chair.
I’m looking forward to sharing and sitting with you all once again!
